Gurdjieff Groups in Finland
What are Groups? What happens in them? How can I join?
A new Gurdjieff groups is usually founded after a public meeting when there are enough interested people. The groups meet once a week, often via Zoom, but when possible also physically in the same place.
The focus of the first years is observing one's reactions in the midst of ordinary life. When there is enough material, we begin trying to change small things. We change how we react to and what our attitude is towards things. Presence helps in this, and we practice it from the beginning for example in the forms typical to many paths of inner work, such as sitting meditation and following the breath. Gurdjieff's approach stresses that if we wish to change something, we have to see the feelings, thoughts, and bodily tensions related to it. They form a whole, all parts of which need to be changed simultaneously.
Later groups that wish to go deeper are formed among those who feel an intensive enough need to work in the midst of ordinary life.
In addition to weekly meetings it is possible to take part in Movements and practical work.
